Hear/Here: Toynbee Tile on 2nd & State

as it happens, none of us native
but under stratosphere.
need gauge to say broken border
river divides city or motion
at center semantic. bridge
above ford; ford feature vita.
slow water white, without caps.
drone log blinking at boats in dark.
by which i mean, upstream children
learning to ski bare-heeled behind
outboard motors and rope, signal
ex/tending beyond cosine, propulsion
god, i claim, tessellation, any;
if cogito ergo sum, etc. deniable.
absence postulate: that that which
includes all truths proves true:
cartesian plane, which river aligns with
never ∴ not. we must pursue shapes
that uphold universe of molecules’
peculiar wend, barmen tining dirty
jokes when day, not stage, light
twinkles gin bottles & jefferson street.
in book gifted me by friend, agora-
phobe, “who will drink with me/ from
wine and poems?” it is “surprisingly
hard to explain nachos,” oil perc
in topography of corn grain, salt.
so surely, yes, god arrives angsty,
teenaged, every tuesday at 2pm
with no assignment come due
but everyone knows when it will.
cold comfort or finally lathed table.
living as peach fuzz fiber accretion
i came all this way to your ballpark
to forget my mitt. city turning
tributaries to prove me wrong
on every word but friendship & hold.
we needs must seed thus love whole
world beginning with selves, dead,
neighbors and cain. i stand rod-
straight eye of i to eye of you. love
city, dress me in socks and feather
boas up my sleeve. rabbit under top
hat upturned, suspicious. consonants
only in handsign, rkfd of dawnbeam.
mint leaves on library steps. clutch
clamped to floorboard and tarpaper
tossed thru absence of passenger
seat to say, i have something to tell
you, i too am here among the whole
of us. and i know you are alone some-
times but we lie here now together.
